Established in 1951, ironically the name of the airline in Chinese, 復興航空, literally means “the airline of the restoration of glory” reflecting the desire of the Nationalists of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to return to China after the Nationalist forces retreated to offshore Taiwan and the Communists took control of mainland China.
