American raises JAL bid to $1.4 billion

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) has reportedly raised its bid for a share of JAL-Japan Airlines (Tokyo) to $1.4 billion according to the WSJ.

Meanwhile according to this Reuters report the Japanese government is moving ahead towards bankruptcy for JAL and will state its position on January 12. In addition ANA has not yet answered on whether they prefer to take over JAL’s international routes. Either way there are a lot of changes coming for the proud flag carrier.
