Spirit of Manila takes delivery of first DC-9-83

Spirit of Manila Airlines (Manila-Diosdado Macapagal International Airport-Clark Field) has taken delivery of its first (of two) McDonnell Douglas DC-9-83 (RP-C7702, msn 49939, ex N939MD/EI-CBR). RP-C7702 joins the original 150-seat Boeing 737-300 which was accepted on January 20, 2009. The new airline will be operating regional routes in Asia and the Persian Gulf region and is catering to ex-pats working overseas who want to cheaply return home. The first announced route is the Clark-Bahrain route with a Boeing 767-300 ER starting on September 2.
